Dyclonine Rinse

Dyclonine Rinse is a compounded topical anesthetic that comes in the form of an oral rinse. A patient can gargle or swish around for one minute to anesthetize gingival and palatable tissues with effects lasting 20 – 30 minutes. The oral rinse is fantastic for hygiene patients who need a small amount of anesthesia, for patients who are needle–phobic and who gag during impressions. Almost any dental patient can be offered this mouth rinse to make their experience at the dental office more comfortable and the dental team’s work easier.

LPT Gel

LPT Gel is a combination topical anesthetic containing Lidocaine, Prilocaine, and Tetracaine commonly formulated in a PEG base. Besides use for pre-injection numbing, LPT is very helpful in root planing and most soft tissue laser procedures. LPT can also be formulated into a water/carboxymethylcellulose base which has a lighter consistency. To help prevent bleeding, Phenylephrine can also be formulated into the gel. Available in a mint flavor with other options available.

Pilocarpine/ Anitviral Lip Balm

Pilocarpine 10mg Lollipop and Antiviral Lip Balm are other patient prescribed offerings. Pilocarpine at this low dose has been found to increase salivary secretions which can be beneficial to your patients suffering with dry mouth. The lollipops are usually made with a Teaberry flavoring, other options are available. The Antiviral Lip Balm is dispensed in a 5 gm tube flavored in Teaberry. Intended use is for the treatment of cold sores on the lips or around the mouth also to help shorten healing time of the sores. The compounded ingredients work to stop viral replication, decrease inflammation swelling, redness, itching and temporary pain associated with the sores.

“Our hygiene team at Bangor Dental Associates, who have over 20 years combined experience, all say that Dyclonine rinse has been a save-all in multiple situations. For example, Dyclonine rinse helps suppress a strong gag reflex when obtaining radiographs and takes the edge off during scaling, and alleviates anxiety for the patient. Our team finds Dyclonine rinse extremely helpful.”
