Dermatology  Compounding

SCIRx Pharmacy offers customized medication options to help with all your skin challenges.  Our pharmacist team will work closely with your dermatologist to customize the right solution for you.

Compounding & Your Skin

Commercially available skin medications are not always appropriate for all patients. Some patients have sensitivities to inactive ingredients, or perhaps the product your doctor wants to prescribe is not currently available due to a manufacturing shortage.

Sometimes a dermatologist will want a patient to use a strength that is higher or lower than what is currently available on the market. Furthermore, the best medication for your specific situation may need 3-5 active ingredients mixed together in one product.  Personalized medication compounding could be your solution.

Our three roll Ointment Mill is used to reduce particle size creating a very smooth, creamy consistency in ointments and creams.  While there are other ways to create great compounds, the only way to truly ensure that the particle sizes of the ingredients are drastically reduced is with the use of a mill. Processing using an ointment mill can increase absorption, and eliminate grittiness completely creating an elegant consistency.

SCIRx Pharmacy offers compounded medicated skincare alternatives in several key areas.

Rosacea

Rosacea

Rosacea is a common inflammatory skin condition affecting more than 14 million people in the United States. There are different forms of rosacea. The most common form presents as facial redness over the nose and cheeks. Patients often describe their tendency to flush and blush easily. Other forms of rosacea consist of acne-like breakouts, thickening or “hypertrophy” of oil glands leading to a bulbous nose, and irritation, redness, and swelling of the eyes.

Melasma Hyperpigmentation

Melasma/Hyperpigmentation

Melasma is a common skin condition that causes brown to grayish-brown patches on the cheeks, nose, forehead, chin, and upper lip. 90% of patients with melasma are women, and the condition is more common in people with darker skin types, such as those of Asian, Hispanic, Mediterranean, Indian, Middle Eastern, and North African descent.

Hyperpigmentation can also be seen after a traumatic event, known as post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation.

“I have been using a compound of Ivermectin 1% and Azelaic Acid 10% from SCIRx Pharmacy to treat my rosacea for two months now, and I am so thrilled to have finally found something that works! My complexion has improved so much, it is like a miracle! I noticed an improvement within weeks of first use. Not only has the redness subsided, but the compound has also cured any patches of flaky or dry skin on my face. I don’t even need to use a separate moisturizer! Plus, there is no unpleasant odor. I have tried many other rosacea solutions in the past, including oils, creams, changes to my diet, and metronidazole. This compound is the first product that actually helped me! If you have rosacea, tell your dermatologist about SCIRx Pharmacy.”
